Winhangadilinya – Increasing Capacity of Crisis Accommodation Services (ICCAS)
Women’s and Children’s Domestic Violence Specialist Services
Winhangadilinya provides trauma informed, culturally responsive and timely support to Aboriginal women and children who experience domestic and family violence across Bathurst and Oberon. We help women and children access safe crisis accommodation.
Delivered by Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council and funded by the Department of Social Services, our program puts community led, First Nations specialist support at the centre of everything we do.
How we can help
Winhangadilinya provides women and their children with free, safe and confidential support, including:
- Immediate domestic and family violence specialist support
- First Nations domestic and family violence specialist support
- Safety planning and client led safety planning
- Referrals to specialist health services
- Referrals to internal and external support programs
- Assistance with housing and crisis accommodation
- Assistance accessing victim services, including social support
- Education and workshops

Our approach
Our work is guided by four key objectives:
- Improving access to crisis accommodation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander survivors, so their immediate safety needs are met
- Strengthening referral pathways and partnerships, so clients can access a full range of services
- Embedding community led solutions in every part of how we design and deliver our services, so they reflect local needs and priorities
- Delivering holistic, trauma informed and intersectional support that is strengths based, family focused and inclusive of diverse experiences
In practice, this looks like mentoring gatherings, DFV workshops, referrals, community engagement, and promoting Winhangadilinya alongside OLALC’s other services. Our team is also trained in shark cage facilitation, so we can deliver these workshops directly to community.
