Annette Steele has been CEO of Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council (OLALC) since 2010, guiding the body through one of its most difficult periods to become the solid, community-focused institution it is today.

Under her leadership, the organisation has grown to provide 15 programs in housing, homelessness, disability assistance, employment, education, and cultural services, including the NSW Ability Links program for Aboriginal people with disabilities.

Annette was instrumental in negotiating the landmark 2021 Aboriginal Land Agreement, the first of its type in NSW, which resulted in the return of 86 hectares of land, including Moulder Park, to the Orange Aboriginal community. She also oversaw the handover of the former Orange police station site to OLALC as a freehold property, which is now home to a restored community hub.

Annette has been an outspoken advocate for the safety and well-being of vulnerable community members, with a particular emphasis on assisting persons affected by domestic and family violence, ensuring OLALC offers emergency lodging, legal aid, and therapy to those in need.
