Welcome to Country

The Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) supplies the following information in regards to Welcome to Country Requests.

A Welcome to Country is performed when anyone from out of area comes within the Orange LALC boundary to attend official functions. For example: conferences, seminars, Minister’s visit’s etc.

The Orange LALC endorses a limited number of members from our community to perform Welcome to Country services. These persons are required to refer all requests they receive to the Orange LALC for coordination, recording and processing purposes.

The Orange LALC charges $275 (GST inclusive) for each Welcome performed within its boundaries. An invoice will be raised and forwarded to the client once the Welcome has been performed.

The monies received is used to support the members of the Orange Aboriginal community.

for example: assisting sporting representatives with one off participation costs, sponsorship of Aboriginal sporting teams (where appropriate), sponsorship of NAIDOC week activities.

The Orange LALC requires a minimum of two (2) weeks notification regarding requests for scheduling purposes. The requesting client will receive notification of availability as soon as possible before the event.

The Orange LALC cannot guarantee the availability of an endorsed person to perform every Welcome to Country Request it receives. Should this occur it is recommended that an Acknowledgement be performed instead. Orange LALC is happy to provide the wording for an Acknowledgement if required.
