Wattle Tree House – Bathurst Homelessness Housing Support Service for Adults and Families
Wattle Tree House provides homelessness support in Bathurst for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal adults and families, as one of four Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) delivered by Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council.
Our housing support service helps clients access temporary accommodation, work towards medium– and long-term rentals, and build the stability they need to sustain a tenancy.
How we can help
Initial assessment and intake
We provide initial assessment and intake for clients needing homelessness services, including housing applications, rental arrears support, and paperwork assistance for temporary accommodation, medium term rental options and long-term rentals, across both private and social housing. We also support and advocate for clients to be placed onto the priority housing register, and assist with rental applications, tenancy inspections, transport and references.
Temporary accommodation support
We assist clients in need of temporary accommodation, contacting Link2home on their behalf, with follow up assistance for Homes NSW appointments to continue temporary accommodation and ensure client needs are met in full through their support plan.
Bond assistance and medium-term housing
We advocate and assist clients with brokerage for bonds, including Rentstart bond loans, to help secure medium-term accommodation while working towards long-term housing solutions.
Eviction risk support
We support and assist clients facing lease terminations or evictions, working with real estate agents and assisting with rent arrears and brokerage, including through Homes NSW, to help them maintain their tenancy.
Establishing a new tenancy
Once a medium or long-term tenancy is secured, we help clients get everything in place to establish their new home.
Referrals and wraparound support
We refer clients to mental health services, drug and alcohol support, rehabilitation, financial counselling, domestic violence, and counselling services.
Living skills programs
We deliver programs covering budgeting, cooking skills, childcare and other living skills to help clients build long term stability.
Transport
We provide transport for clients to medical appointments, rental inspections and temporary accommodation.
