Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing (STiSH) – Bathurst and Orange
STiSH is a referral based, Department of Community Justice (DCJ) funded program delivered by Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council, providing social housing support across Bathurst and Orange.
Running since 2021, our tenancy support program has helped many social housing tenants stay safely and successfully in their homes.
We help people stay in their homes who are at significant risk of tenancy failure and eviction.
How we can help
STiSH caseworkers work alongside tenants, providing case management and coordination for both tenancy issues and the underlying challenges that can hinder a successful tenancy long term. We can help with:
- Property care
- Referral to support services
- Budgeting for rent and water arrears
- Support through the NCAT process
- Advocating on your behalf
Success for us is where our clients can sustain their existing social housing tenancy for at least 12 months from their initial referral, with no further breaches of their tenancy agreement.
Please note: STiSH does not pay for water or rental arrears, and does not provide cleaning services. Our focus is to support tenants to be able to do these things for themselves.

How to get support for social housing tenants at risk of eviction
Referral to STiSH is made via the DCJ. If you’re a social housing tenant in Bathurst or Orange and you’re worried about losing your tenancy, speak with your DCJ caseworker about a referral to tenancy support.
As part of Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council, our tenancy support program is grounded in community and culturally responsive support for tenants across the Orange and Bathurst areas.
